10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Recent Comic Book Movies
1. Kang The Conqueror (Avengers: Endgame)
From the first leaks from pre-production planning, it was clear that Avengers: Endgame was going to involve time travel in some capacity. And while it was unclear just how this was happening and who would be involved, the mere mention of "Avengers" and "time travel" in the same sentence brought one key figure to mind: Kang the Conqueror.
As any comic book fan worth their protective plastic covering knows, Kang the Conqueror is one of the Avengers' most iconic villains. A tyrant ruler from the 31st century, Kang will occasionally travel back in time to ensure his rule isn't compromised by the Avengers meddling with the past. With his futuristic technology, arrogant personality, and his clever strategies, he's the perfect antagonist for any time traveling venture.
But as anyone who saw the film can attest, Kang had nothing to do with the time travel shenanigans. Instead, the entire plot was inspired by one line about time vortexes from Ant-Man and the Wasp. Additionally, since the MCU's Phase Four was announced without a single Avengers movie, the Disney-Fox merger is in its final stages, and Kevin Feige would rather play with some of the new IPs he now owns, it's unlikely Kang will make an MCU appearance anytime in the near future.
