10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Recent Comic Book Movies
9. Stature (Avengers: Endgame)
A big part of Scott Lang's journey has been his relationship with his daughter, Cassie. He tries to go straight for her, turns back to crime for her, and ultimately becomes Ant-Man to live up to the pedestal she put him on. So it was an emotional moment when Scott returns from the sub-atomic world to find out his daughter is now a teenager and he missed a not insignificant portion of her formative years.
But beyond being a deep moment of Avengers: Endgame that really drove home the damage Thanos's actions had done, nothing comes from this scene and Cassie all but disappears from the film. And considering that a major theme of Endgame was preparing and paving the way for future generations of heroes, this was a huge missed opportunity to introduce Cassie's super-hero persona: Stature.
In the comics, Cassie becomes Stature at a relatively young age, so it would have lined up with Marvel continuity for her to have taken up her father's mantle and research the Pym Particle in his absence. But instead, she was little more than a prop that had little screen time, no lines, and was overall irrelevant to the narrative. Which is almost offensive when you consider how integral she is to the Ant-Man films.
