10 Biggest Mistakes The DCEU Has Ever Made
5. Killing Superman Before Anyone Cared
Beyond rushing to copy the MCU, the DCEU also raced through what should've been its Infinity War moment - the death of Superman.
The Death of Superman comic is a milestone story for the Man of Steel, and one that fans were eager to see played out on the big screen eventually.
But in Batman v Superman, Zack Snyder got wildly overeager and had Superman killed off during the climactic battle against Doomsday (Robin Atkin Downes).
The thing is, this being just Supes' second appearance in the franchise, fans hadn't yet had the opportunity to grow firmly attached to the character, and so his death was ultimately sorely lacking in the desired emotion.
It didn't help that the film ended by heavily implying his resurrection rather than letting the moment breathe, and when he "finally" returned in Justice League the next year, it was severely tainted by Henry Cavill's infamous digital mustache removal.
This is the sort of dramatic epoch that should've happened a few years and a few movies later, once we as viewers were fully invested in Cavill's iteration of Superman, and perhaps even genuinely believed that he might be gone for good.
Instead, it came off as obviously phony and emotionally inert.
