10. Duck Dynasty Star Suspended For Anti-Gay Comments
If you've been anywhere near Twitter in the last few days you've undoubtedly noticed a wave of information regarding the Duck Dynasty controversy currently plaguing A&E. I wont' get into it too much here, since it's currently splattered all over the internet, but the basic news is this. Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Robertson family, has been suspended "indefinitely" from the hit reality series following controversial remarks he made in GQ magazine about homosexuality. Variety had
the initial report, and was given this statement from A&E:
We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community.
This has sparked quite the debate online, with people solidly standing on both sides of the issue and (loudly) expressing their opinions across the web. Needless to say, it's a bit of a debacle, and as of right now the future of the show
is still uncertain.
