6. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Premieres On Netflix This March
Star Wars fans upset about Disney's cancellation of the successful and fun Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network now have something to look forward to, as it's now been announced that the sixth and final season of the series will premiere in its entirety on Netflix on March 7th. But wait, that's not all! We'll also be getting the entire series on Netflix the same day, along with never-before-seen director's cut episodes and the feature film that launched the show back in 2008. This is the first time we'll get any Star Wars content available on Netflix streaming, and it comes as part of an exclusive deal with Netflix and the Disney/ABC Television Group. Ted Sarandos, the company's chief content officer, had this to say about the deal:
"Stars Wars is one of the most iconic franchises of all time and this series joins a long line of Disney content that Netflix members are and will continue to enjoy for years to come. The Clone Wars marks an important moment as Netflix welcomes more and more first-run content from The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries."
This is great news for Star Wars fans, who are going to be seeing a lot more content over the next couple years now that Disney owns Lucasfilm. We've got Star Wars Episode VII coming in December 2015, and the new Star Wars: Rebels animated show later this year (which will be preceded by a tie-in movie on the Disney Channel).
