10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (Feb 8)

10. Preacher TV Series Confirmed At AMC

preacher AMC could use another hit, now that Breaking Bad is over and Mad Men is on its way out. Right now their biggest show is The Walking Dead, and they're looking for similar success with Preacher, a series based on the 1990s comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. They've tapped Breaking Bad producer Sam Catlin to produce, alongside... Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg? We first got rumor of Rogen and Goldberg's involvement in the project a few months back, and EW confirmed this week that they will write the pilot and act as executive producers. They had this to say about the news:
"This is amazing! We've tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we're so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we're going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!"
The two certainly aren't the first people you think of when it comes to a Preacher TV series, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad choice. They're good writers and have had a lot of success in the last few years; it will be interesting to see them tackle a project like this and try their hands at a new genre. For those unfamiliar with the comic, here's the official description, courtesy of AMC:
"Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print €“ an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers €“ a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse."
