8. Horrible Bosses Director To Helm Uncharted Movie And Lewis Carroll Biopic
Director Seth Gordon has experienced quite the upswing in the last couple years. His first feature, the gaming documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters was such a success that it landed him steady work between 2007 and 2010, then he was given the reigns to two successful studio comedies, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief. Now, he'll be taking on
two big projects: an adaptation of the popular
Uncharted video game franchise, and a biopic about Alice in Wonderland writer Lewis Carroll called
Queen of Hearts. The Uncharted movie has been in the works for a while, going through several different directors (like David O. Russell and Neil Burger) and stars (Mark Wahlberg). It will be the first time Gordon has tackled an action film, which may worry diehard fans of the games; we'll just have to see what direction he takes the film, and if he ends up making it at all. Queen of Hearts will, naturally, be a different ballgame. It sounds awfully similar to Shakespeare in Love; featuring "a passionate love affair that ends badly, leaving a broken-hearted Carroll compelled to write his most famous work." Queen of Hearts was written by Stephanie Shannon and with Deadline reporting that Uncharted is currently Gordon's priority, it may be a while before he gets around to making it. It does sound like an interesting movie, so we'll be interested to see how it moves forward (and what Gordon does with it.)
