10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (Jan 18th)

1. Batman Vs. Superman Delayed Until 2016

The week was just winding down, and all seemed to be settling in for the weekend when Warner Bros. shocked comic book fans everywhere by announcing that their highly anticipated Man of Steel sequel (tentatively titled Batman Vs. Superman), was being pushed back ten months, leaving its July 17, 2015 release date for May 6, 2016 instead. Warner Bros. states that the film has been pushed in order to "help fully realize the vision." As disappointing as it might be to have to wait nearly an extra year to see the movie, this is probably the best thing that could have happened. The film felt a bit rushed from the get-go, and with so much riding on this movie's success, DC/WB absolutely need to get it right. Taking a few extra months to polish the script and work out the story details is nothing new (they did it with Man of Steel back in 2012), and may even help the film's box office chances. As we know, 2015 is shaping up to to be the biggest year for movies ever, so moving Superman/Batman away from the overcrowded summer will likely help it in the long run. As with everything DC announces, the news has been a bit divisive online, showing that you just can't please the rabid fanboys. And that's it for this week's WhatCulture news brief! What did you think about this week's stories? Are you excited to see Lady Sif and Agent Carter on TV? Will you be picking up the '60s Batman home video release? Will Michael Douglas make a good Hank Pym? And how do you feel about Batman Vs. Superman being delayed?
