10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (Oct 5)

2. Netflix Gives Adam Sandler 4 Movie Deal

Adam Sandler 39294 Netflix may be making bold new steps toward the future with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, but that's not the only new venture on their slate. A day after announcing the Crouching Tiger news, the streaming giant announced a big new deal they've signed with Adam Sandler. Sandler will star in and produce four films that will air exclusively on Netflix, the first of which may arrive as early as 2015. Netflix stated that Sandler's films are among the most-viewed by subscribers, and expressed their excitement in teaming with the actor in the following statement:
€œHis appeal spans across viewers of all ages €” everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line."
There's no word yet on what the films may be or even what genre they'll be in. Presumably, they will be comedies, in order to find the biggest Netflix viewership, but he has been known to star in dramas as well so perhaps we'll get a mix of the two. Judging by Sandler's own statement, we shouldn't take his involvement or care in these new projects too carefully:
"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only. Netflix rhymes with 'wet chicks.'"
Yeah. We're doomed.
