10. Maze Runner Sequel Lands 2015 Release Date And Villain Casting

20th Century Fox has enjoyed critical and commercial success with their adaptation of The Maze Runner. The film has received mostly positive reviews, and took in $32.5 million its opening weekend. Only a week after release the film has grossed $109 million, nearly tripling its budget. As is the case with many of these YA adaptations, Fox was hoping to have a new franchise on their hands, and appear to have succeeded. As such, they've already green-lit a sequel, The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, for a September 18, 2015 release date. Not only that, but they've already found the man to play the sequel's primary villain, Janson: Game of Thrones alum Aiden Gillen. Gillen of course plays the slimy and treacherous Littlefinger on the hit HBO series, proving that he can play the villainous role quite well. Janson has a relatively small part in The Scorch Trials, but has a bigger role in the third novel, though that may change when the films hit the big screen. Source: THR
