8. Andy Muschietti To Direct Shadow Of The Colossus

Chronicle director Josh Trank had signed on to adapt the popular and acclaimed Sony video game Shadow of the Colossus a while ago, but his resume has gotten pretty crowded with high-profile projects this year. Not only is he helming Fox's Fantastic Four reboot, but he'll take the reigns of a standalone Star Wars spin-off as well, which is slated for 2018. That meant that Shadow of the Colossus unfortunately fell off of his slate, and was in need of a new director. Luckily for Sony, Mama director Andy Muschietti is available, now that he'll no longer helm Universal's reboot of The Mummy (that duty goes instead to Alex Kurtzman). The Hollywood Reporter announced Muschietti's involvement last week. There's no doubt that Muschietti's style and signature is a perfect fit for the visually ambitious and unique project that Shadow of the Colossus is, so hopefully his involvement gives the project the push it so desperately needs to finally go into development.
