David Cronenberg's The Fly is one of the most gross-out horror movies ever, with Seth Brundle's transformation into a grotesque fly creature proving quite hard to stomach for those who are particularly sensitive to gory practical effects.

Despite the fact that Brundle turns into a monster though, audiences are still meant to feel sympathetic towards him, which is precisely why a scene involving Brundle beating a monkey-cat to death - which makes him out to be rather cruel - was cut.

This lengthy sequence starts with Brundle placing a baboon and a cat into separate pods, powering them on, and then observing the result: the two creatures have merged together into a mangled mess of fur and limbs.

This monkey-cat, which is clearly very frightened and confused, then lashes out at Brundle, sinking its claws into his flesh. So, in response, he batters the poor thing with a lead pipe, killing it in a brutal fashion.

It's strangely uncomfortable to watch, and ultimately, it's an odd moment for a character who is meant to be a tragic hero - not an animal-murdering savage.
