10 Blockbusters Due In 2015 You Probably Haven't Heard Of
10. Seventh Son (February 2015)
Director: Sergie Bodruv Cast: Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Kit Harrington & Djimon Hounsou Plot: Jeff Bridges is a bad-tempered wizard fighting a coven of shape-shifting witches led by Julianne Moore with the help of apprentice Ben Barnes, the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in this old school fantasy with creepy dungeons, medieval trappings and possibly a buxom wench or two. What To Expect: True Lord Of The Grit The main attraction has to be Bridges, hopefully channelling The Dude via Rooster Cogburn as the curmudgeonly old wizard mentoring a young apprentice but director Bodruv made the critically acclaimed Genghis Khan story Mongol in 2007, which proves he can handle a period setting and big scale action so this has potential to fill the fantasy film void left by Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. Originally scheduled to be released in 2013 it has been delayed for two years but not because of endless re-shoots or unhappy studios but because film backer Legendary Pictures left parent company Warner Bros. Fortunately for everyone involved their new partners are Universal Studios, home to Jason Bourne, Jurassic Park and the Fast & Furious franchise so hopefully this film could be the exception to the rule that long delays mean a poor film.
