10 Body Horror Movies That Broke All The Rules
8. The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
Even for the standards of body horror, Tom Six's The Human Centipede is truly nauseating stuff, despite actually being considerably less explicit than you might expect.
The film revolves around a deranged surgeon, Josef Heiter (Dieter Laser), who kidnaps three individuals in an attempt to perform an experimental surgery which will create a "Human Centipede," connecting the trio "ass-to-mouth" such that they share one elongated digestive tract.
So, yeah, you know what that means.
Though Six leaves the truly gross stuff for the sequels, the first film was so utterly transgressive with its vomit-baiting concept that, despite being surprisingly tame in the blood-and-guts department, it turned the genre totally on its head.
The shock factor wore off in the more desperately outlandish sequels, but First Sequence is nothing if not a completely singular stab at a genre that typically invites wholly different expectations.
