Yes... I'm serious. What better way to show off your directorial chops than by directing a movie that features a huge blend of CGI characters and real, human actors? There are a bunch of people out there who want Warcraft to crash and burn. Why? Because it's based on a videogame series, and it features a ton of special effects. But those people aren't looking at the facts. For a start, it's Duncan Jones. Not only is he David Bowie's son (technically not relevant, but still), his previous two feature films have been critically acclaimed science-fiction movies. There's no reason to doubt his conviction and belief in the quality of Warcraft. As well as that, Industrial Light & Magic the special effects company behind Warcraft is responsible for some of recent film's most championed CGI, including The Revenant and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Oh, and they made Rango, too, the last non-Disney animated film to win an Oscar. Jones' talent and passion for the source material will enable him to pull all of these constitute pieces together to create a masterpiece, and it's his directing that will be rewarded.
