You can't have an Infinity War without potentially infinite casualties. Literally nobody is safe from the crosshairs in the next two Avengers movies, whether they're comic book royalty, a galactic guardian or an iconic supervillain.

Chris Evans's Marvel contract will come to an end after Infinity War's sequel is done and dusted, and there's no word on an extension this time, but it's more than just bureaucracy pulling him towards the MCU exit.

Cap perished during Marvel Comics' Civil War storyline and adapting this tragically iconic scene would serve a much greater purpose than mere shock value. If Steve Rogers was to lay down his life in battle, his sacrifice would inspire others and reunite the splintered Avengers, repairing the damage done in Civil War.
