5. Thanos Will Banish Characters To The Quantum Realm

Early reports suggest that Ant-Man and the Wasp will take place in the wake of Civil War, but given that the movie will launch between Infinity War and Avengers 4, this doesn't really make sense.

Granted, Spider-Man: Homecoming looks to have broken the timeline, but why would the MCU suddenly jump back in time after Infinity War, and doesn't Ant-Man and the Wasp have some groundwork to do ahead of Avengers 4?

Evangeline Lilly's Wasp will join forces with the Avengers in the untitled sequel, so surely the Ant-Man follow-up needs to pave the way for this. This suggests at least some of its events will take place after, or concurrent with, Infinity War.

There's a simple way Marvel could have Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp connect seamlessly: by having Thanos banish some of the good guys to the Quantum Realm. Scott Lang would be the only one with the know-how to rescue them, so that would explain why he parts company with his fellow Avengers after Infinity War, only to rejoin their ranks in the movie's untitled sequel.

Lang already has incentive to return to the Quantum Realm, given that the original Ant-Man ended with renewed hope that Janet Van Dyne is alive in there somewhere, but if Thanos was to imprison a few of his friends there too, he'd have all the more reason to shrink down to size for a subatomic rescue.

Marvel must give Ant-Man a compelling reason to part ways with the Avengers for a solo mission, before returning with Wasp in tow. Something along these lines fits the bill.
