10 Breakout Film Stars Of 2014

9. Alfie Enoch

Alfie Enoch, by virtue of his parentage and his own accomplishments, is linked to two of the biggest, most British franchises in history. His father is William Russell, who played one of the very first companions on Doctor Who back in the 1960s, and of course Alfie himself is best known for playing Dean Thomas in Harry Potter. But although he was featured in all of those films, he was only a minor character, and it's easy to see how casual viewers overlooked him. Luckily for him and his burgeoning career, he grew up attractive and talented. Our first glimpse of this new, adult version of Alfie Enoch was on Sherlock, where he played a small but crucial (and shirtless, which is also an important detail) role. We were intrigued. Also curious about what the Harry Potter producers put in the water on set, because all those former child actors turned out ridiculously well. Now Alfie Enoch has a major role on How to Get Away With Murder, one of the biggest hits on television this year. While his work outside of Harry Potter has largely been limited to TV, who cares? There's never been a better time to make a career out of the small screen.
