Sebastian Stan is a prime example of why you should never underestimate the power of fandom. The Romanian actor has been working steadily over the past few years, appearing as a stereotypical 80s ski bully in Hot Tub Time Machine and more recently as Jefferson/The Mad Hatter on ABC's Once Upon a Time. 2014 saw him star alongside Chris Evans in the well-received Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where he played Steve Rogers' best friend Bucky, transformed into an assassin by Soviet scientists. The complexity of his character is a rare treat, as his circumstances prevent him from being seen simply as a villain (despite the fact that the film is marketed with a clear hero/adversary dichotomy between the two characters). There's a fascinating dynamic that plays out between Steve and Bucky, and it's precisely this relationship that captured fandom's imagination.
