10 Brutally Violent Films The Censors Tried To Ban

9. Night Of The Demon (1980)

The missing link between The Legend Of Boggy Creek (1972) and The Blair Witch Project (1999), Night Of The Demon follows an academic who leads his class on an expedition to find Bigfoot. Instead, they encounter a creature that resembles Lou Ferrigno covered in yak hair, who proceeds to tear them apart one by one. Yes, it€™s another unintentionally funny exploitation movie that found its way onto the Video Nasties list, but it€™s never dull and worth watching for the sheer insanity on display. When Bigfoot isn€™t killing girl guides by banging their heads together, he€™s tearing off a urinating motorcyclist€™s penis or romancing Crazy Wanda, the local hermit who bears his offspring. (Yes, you read that right). Released on video in June 1982, Night Of The Demon was banned as a Video Nasty in October 1983 and remained unavailable until 1994. Shortened by 1m 41s, this release was missing a disembowelment, a face being burned on a stove and the previously mentioned castration sequence.
