10 Burning Questions Upcoming Movies MUST Answer
5. Is Naru Related To Billy? - Prey
The Question
The first teaser trailer recently dropped to the upcoming Predator prequel Prey, which touts a bold new direction for the franchise by taking place in 1719 in the Comanche Nation.
The film's protagonist is Naru (Amber Midthunder), a Comanche warrior who defends her tribe against a Predator, prompting fans to consider whether she could in fact be a distant ancestor of the original film's iconic Native American character, Billy Sole (Sonny Landham)?
The Likely Answer
It'd certainly be a fun link between the two movies, as long as director Dan Trachtenberg doesn't overdo the fan service.
You might recall that Billy appeared to have a sixth sense by realising when the Predator was nearby, and Prey could flesh this out by revealing that Native American tribes have a unique spiritual edge on the alien creatures.
It's also important to consider that the series' iconic flintlock pistol that was given to Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) by a Predator at the end of the second film bore the inscription "Raphael Adolini 1715," placing its inscription just four years before the events of Prey.
All in all it seems highly probable that the film will create a tether to the original Predator, though Trachtenberg may prefer to not explicitly link this new band of characters to those who fought the Predator in the South American jungle hundreds of years later.
It's a coin flip, basically.
