10 Captivating Villains In Forgettable Movies

2. Leland Gaunt - Needful Things

Snow White And The Huntsman
Columbia

1993's Needful Things sits as one of the more forgettable Stephen King film adaptations.

A disjointed story and too many twists for its own good undo the excellent work put in by the film's talented cast.

Ed Harris and Amanda Plummer both gave decent accounts of themselves in the flick, but the undoubted star of the show was the legendary Max Von Sydow as the devil himself, Leland Gaunt.

Disguised as an antique dealer, this version of the devil opened up a shop in (you guessed it) Maine and went on to sell the unsuspecting neighbourhood whatever their hearts desired... all for the price of a joyously large dose of pain and suffering.

Van Sydow oozed charm and was as enticing as he was disarming, right up until the moment he eventually fled the burnt down and traumatized town with a spring in his step.

However, aside from this delightfully sinister turn from Van Sydow, the film doesn't offer much else in terms of memorability and has been rightfully forgotten by many fans.

Yet, if you're a fan of torture and questioning your allegiances, this performance may be the one you've been looking for.
