10 CGI Moments In The MCU We All Missed

9. Curt Connors + Flint Marko – Spider-Man: No Way Home

Not only was Spider-Man: No Way Home a blast from start to finish, it was a nostalgic rollercoaster. Viewers were thrilled to see all three Spider-Men, as well as the supervillains from the Sony film franchise, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and the Lizard.

But while watching the long-awaited threequel, many viewers wondered if the actors portraying Sandman and the Lizard, Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans respectively, actually played their characters physically, or just provided the vocals.

So, when the pair revert to their human forms in the final scene, viewers believed this proved the actors were physically portraying their roles.

On the contrary, Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans never stepped foot on the set of No Way Home! The shots where Sandman and the Lizard change back to normal were achieved by using alternative takes of the characters from Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man, and then splicing it in with a big old dollop of CGI. It's not clear whether this decision was due to COVID restrictions, but it didn't matter, since the scene wasn't impaired in any way.
