10 Changes The DCEU Will Make After Justice League

8. Less Connective Tissue Between Movies

If DC Extended Universe films continue to deliver more misses than hits, Warner Bros will no doubt look for an exit strategy, and you can expect this to be a gradual process rather than an abrupt brakes slam.

Future films will likely tell stronger standalone stories that don't rely on the other movies or go out of their way to set up the next instalment. That way, the likes of James Wan's Aquaman and Shazam! could branch off into their own trilogies if the wider franchise continues to struggle.

Warner and DC will cover their own backs by including fewer sequel setups, references and crossovers in these movies, just in case the time comes when these characters have to go their separate ways.

There are already signs that the studios are planning for a future of standalone comic book movies, with the formation of the DC Entertainment brand and confirmation of a Joker origin movie serving as possible hints of the post-cinematic universe future that might be on the cards.
