5. Pepper Potts
Going by what we saw in the trailers, many of us were convinced that Iron Man's love, Pepper Potts, was going to meet her demise during the opening act of Iron Man 3, when The Mandarin blew Tony's malibu home to smithereens. While she survived that, she did end up being thrown into a fire at the end of the movie, but her Extermis powers managed to keep her alive, before Tony manages to stabilise the effects of Extremis at the very end of the movie. Given the fact that Pepper so very nearly died in Iron Man 3, it might seem like overkill to have her
actually die in Avengers 2, but given that her Extremis powers have already been downplayed so much, she will again be a vulnerable character, and is one of the more viable damsels in distress in the franchise. It would certainly give Tony the emotional motivation he needs to reap some kick-ass vengeance against Ultron if she were to die.
