10 Characters Who Shouldn't Return For X-Men: Days Of Future Past

5. Senator Robert Kelly - X-Men/ X:2 (2000/2003)

senator kelly Senator Kelly is a keen anti mutant lobbyist, claiming they are a danger to normal people, one of the key human threats to the X-Men in their time. In the film version, Senator Kelly is subject to Magneto's experimental machine, giving humans mutant powers. Ultimately Kelly escapes Magneto's custody and washes up naked on a beach. Anyone looking for some slimy old man backside tune in to 'X-Men'. Kelly's body rejects mutant powers and he is left as a gelatinous blob in the Xavier mansion; seeking help he eventually realises his mistakes too late and just sort of melts away in Storm's arms. Davidson returns to cameo as Senator Kelly in 'X:2', with the real senator dead Mystique imitates him to push through mutant laws. The character is neither here nor there, but for some reason they tried to produce a Senator Kelly mutant toy, deeming it too disturbing for children, check it out here... a metled human offspring of Mr. Potato Head springs to mind. kelly2 There is good and bad news, Davidson is not rumoured to return for DoFP, but the character of Kelly is a key part of the 'Future Past' story line. The whole premise is that Kitty Pryde and co. send Wolverine to stop the assassination of Senator Kelly, thus preventing a dystopian future where the mutants are hunted by giant Sentinel robots. The Singer version of Senator Kelly in the first two films wasn't much more than a talking head in a suit, simply there to provide some human threat to the films. It will be refreshing to see where he takes the new Senator Kelly with him being a much more focal part of the plot.
