10 Characters Who Were Massively Improved In Sequels
1. Ash - The Evil Dead 2
The Evil Dead 2 might be a strange reincarnation of The Evil Dead as much as it is a true sequel, but Sam Raimi's second bash at a cabin in the woods plagued by possessed zombies made it one of the best films of its kind.
Most importantly, central protagonist Ash was transformed from his role in the first movie as the serious horror hero into a comedic caricature, running through the same motions that The Evil Dead set out only in a far more bizarre setting.
With everyone else around him dead or mostly-dead, Ash takes centre stage as a man losing his mind to the necronomicon's magic - dancing with the furniture, chased down by demons, and of course, trading his own flesh and blood for a chainsaw limb to take down the forces of evil.
Ash's character is no doubt built upon to marvellous effect, taking the foundations of a seminal scary movie and chucking a load of nonsense on top that only makes him all the more endearing.
