10 Chick Flicks Your Girlfriend Roped You Into That You Ended Up Loving

4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I know a lot of you are thinking, "Whoah, dude. Not a chick flick!" But, it kind of was. I hadn't been watching How I Met Your Mother at the time and there was no draw for me or my buddies to want to see it. Jason Segel meant nothing to me. If my girlfriend hadn't forced me to go, I'd never have fallen in love with that man nor Kristen Bell or been introduced to the off the wall comedy of Russel Brand. Because the film did all three of those things to me and a lot of guys I know, it earns a top spot. And we have our girls t thank for taking us to the theater to see it. Segel is hysterical, as is brand, as is Bell. It's pretty much an unbeatable cast. And, as if no one had been watching That 70's Show for years, every guy suddenly realized how hot Mila Kunis was. The writing and the characters are unique, much like each entry in this list, which is what makes it special to the genre. It isn't just a chick flick because Segel is the protagonist and he's dealing with something VERY real. The love of his love has broken his heart. All of the heartache and pain he goes through in the film, though elevated for comedic purposes, is something all guys can relate to. It's nearly impossible to deal with losing the girl you thought you were meant to marry, and to make matters worse that she's in the same place you are when you're trying to escape? When life hits the fan, it's a mess. The quirkyness that Segel brings to the script is also what makes it the perfect film for a guy to want to watch with his girl. When it's her turn to choose, if you suggest this movie, chances are she'll say yes and you both win. The whole puppet musical rock opera thing? So random but so perfectly tuned to this story. And what kind of job is the music composer of a procedural crime drama? It's someone's, and here is Segel's. There's just so much fun, quirky, uniqueness to the movie that it's like taking a deep breath of fresh air. It's one of the best because it's original and awesome to see, much like 10 Things I hate About You, a film like this responsible for really kick starting the movie careers of a lot of talented people.
