10 Classic Film Characters Who Didn't Have As Much Screen-Time As You Thought

1. The Joker - The Dark Knight

Some might call it the finest acting performance of the last ten years; it won Heath Ledger an Oscar posthumously, and helped The Dark Knight become one of the most successful movies of all time. But did you realise that the Joker only appears in the movie for 33 minutes? That might seem a lot, but considering how engrossing Ledger was in the role, it's shocking to realise that he wasn't in it for longer. The Joker appeared in just over a fifth of the movie; that's only time for three a half loops of his accompanying theme, 'Why So Serious?', and only a third of his half-hour in the film is dedicated purely to shots of just him, rather than back-and-forth camera work following conversations he engages in. It's a lot more than some of the names on this list, but it's still only 20% of The Dark Knight'; that really is the definition of the phrase "quality, not quantity".
