10 Comic Book Adaptations That Messed Up Iconic Stories

We switch to the small screen now, with the CW's take on The Flash. The Scarlet Speedster had a pretty good debut series on the network, with most applauding it for its unashamed comic book vibe and accuracy. It was a fan boy's dream come true to see Barry Allen battle it out with the likes of The Reverse Flash and Gorilla Grodd in live action, even if it was on a TV budget.

While the sophomore series may not have been quite as well received, it was still enjoyable nonetheless, with alternative earths and more Flash mythology being fleshed out. In addition, the cliffhanger ending that set up one of the all-time great Flash stories had fans salivating with anticipation.

That story was Flashpoint, which sees the hero use his super speed to travel back in time and prevent his mother's death, only to disrupt the time stream in the process, resulting in a new timeline where nothing is as it was. Instead of taking the awesome concept and exploring it over a whole season like many expected however, it instead brushed over the whole thing in the first couple of episodes and then moved on to the villain Savitar.

Savitar - the cult leading, self proclaimed speed god - isn't a bad choice for a lead villain per se, but he should have been held off for a later series, with season 3 focused on Flashpoint and all the intriguing possibilities that come with it.
