10 Comic Book Movie Performances That Ruined Actors' Careers

Having been discovered and cast by Bryan Singer in Superman Returns - a decision based significantly on his sort-of similar looks to Christopher Reeve (or so it's easy to think in hindsight) - Routh's big shot was hamstrung by a completely apathetic audience.

He didn't act it badly by any means, but the film took the opportunity to be super very loosely, and Singer instead set out on an agenda to bore everyone to death. It was dull and uninspiring, and while Singer was welcomed back to the X-Men franchise like a returning hero, Routh was unceremoniously cast off.

What He Did Next

Aside from his turn as The Atom in Arrow, his career for a long while looked like that of a bargain basement B-movie actor.

He's come back from the brink a little more recently, and has even reclaimed Superman thanks to the Arrowverse, but it shouldn't have been this way.
