10 Comic-Book Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Weren't Worth Waiting For
4. The X-Men: Days Of Future Past Teaser (The Amazing Spider-Man 2)
Before the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony had announced they were developing their own Marvel Comics cinematic universe, using characters they owned the rights to.
This universe would include a Sinister Six movie as well as a movie starring Venom, which would both have been released in and around two more sequels in the main The Amazing Spider-Man series.
A Venom movie and a Sinister Six movie?! Now those are two projects worth teasing in a post-credits scene, right? Right?
Unfortunately, Sony did not share that point of view, and due to a deal between director Marc Webb and 20th Century Fox, what we actually got was a short, misplaced and abrupt scene from X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
Not only was this confusing at the time, since it implied that a Spider-Man/X-Men cross-studio deal was in the works (it wasn't) but it was a massive kick in the teeth to fans who were expecting a scene that provided clues about the future of Sony's Spider-verse, especially since the studio had announced a bevy of films beforehand.
Why wouldn't they tease them after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, one of the biggest blockbusters of the year?
Sure, Sony had to include this moment due to Marc Webb's deal with Fox, but what about the very end of the credits? Why not put something there? The studio had a golden opportunity but failed to seize it.
