10 Comic Book Movies That Completely Ignored The Source

9. X-Men: First Class

X-Men First Class Let me start off by saying that I actually like this film a lot. For a superhero film, it€™s got plenty of good moments, and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender portray younger versions of Professor X and Magneto fantastically. As an X-Men film, however, it has its issues. I could write a whole other article about the continuity problems this film has with the other films (or the continuity of the franchise in general), but let€™s just focus on how it handles the source. In the comic books, Professor X€™s original team is composed of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. In this movie, the only original member who shows up is Beast, with the rest of the team filled out by second and third tier characters that I guarantee the general public had never heard of like Havok, Darwin (who I totally called would die), and Angel Salvadore. Plus, there€™s the fact that aside from leading the Hellfire Club, film villain Sebastian Shaw is nothing like his comic book counterpart. Don€™t get me wrong, Kevin Bacon gave a good performance, but I don€™t see a reason why they needed to change his powers. As for Professor X and Magneto€™s ages, I can look past those just because McAvoy and Fassbender gave such badass performances!
