10 Comic Book Movies That Should Have Been R-Rated

3. The Losers

thelosers The Losers hasn't got a particularly compelling premise - it's basically a modern riff on the A-Team - and so it needs to be all about the execution, yet the PG-13 rating really denied this one much agency, and as a result it's not too surprising that it flopped at the box office. Though it has plenty of style and the cast seems game, the litany of bloodless shootouts prove frustrating for audiences, especially after the release of Kick-Ass several months prior, which reveled in its extreme violence on roughly the same budget. Given that the comic was pretty damn hardcore, it seems like a cop-out to dilute it for mass consumption, especially when audiences didn't seem to appreciate it in the end anyway. If it had gone the route of a politically incorrect, 80s-style action flick - somewhat in the vein of an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie from the period - then this one could have been an absolute blast.
