10 Comic Book Movies You Didn't Know Were Linked

7. Superman (1978) & Supergirl (1984) Share The Same Jimmy Olsen

Don't feel bad if you've never seen 1984's Supergirl, let alone aren't aware of its lineage in the continuity of DC superhero movies.

The twice Razzie-nominated comic book film was a major critical and commercial flop, despite the fact it was actually canon with the classic Christopher Reeve-starring Superman movies.

And while you'd be forgiven for not realising this even if you have seen Supergirl considering how utterly forgettable it is, there's a single piece of connective tissue between the two films which confirms the link.

Marc McClure, who appeared in all four Reeve Superman movies as plucky Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, reprises the role briefly in Supergirl, spending a few scattered moments chattering with Kara Zor-El (Helen Slater).

While it's hilariously easy to forget, there's the proof. And given the abject silliness of Superman IV, is it really that hard to believe these movies all exist in the same world?
