10 Comic Stories You Should Read Before Phase 3 Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe

8. Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 1: Cosmic Avengers

Guardians of the Galaxy was undoubtedly the break out hit for the second phase of the Marvel CU, and naturally, Marvel Studios has already begun preparing for a sequel. One of the films strengths was its ability to make individuals care about B-list and C-list characters within the Marvel pantheon. By the end of the film, viewers had a strong grasp on each of these characters; however, strangely enough, not much was revealed about the lead character€™s (Star Lord) past. Assuming that Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 is going to delve into Star Lord€™s history, it might be wise to pick up Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 1: Cosmic Avengers. Written by fan favourite, Brian Michael Bendis, with Steve McNiven on art, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Avengers is the first volume in their run on the book. As a part of the Marvel NOW! reboot, Cosmic Avengers serves as the perfect jumping on point for those who have and have not seen the first Guardians Of The Galaxy film. Not only does this story reintroduce each of the characters from the Guardians Of The Galaxy film, it also focuses on Star Lord (Peter Quill) and his origin story. Not to mention, Tony Stark joins the team for this first arc. Watching Iron Man team up with Rocket Racoon alone makes the trade worth a read.

Since childhood, Bryant has been an avid fan of superheroes, and he has been reading comic books since 2006. His full name is "George Bryant Lucas"; however, after enduring countless Darth Vader jokes, he has chosen to go by his middle name. Born and raised in the United States, Bryant is currently living with his lovely wife in the country side of Wiltshire County, UK. Bryant does suffer from a mild case of dyslexia; misspellings and homonyms are to be expected on occasion.
