10 Common Movie Types That Nobody Actually Wants To See

4. "Loose" Video Game Adaptations

Resident Evil I stumbled upon an interesting fact whilst putting this article together. Well, it's not exactly a fact, but it's a notion that I don't think many people will disagree with: there isn't a single "good" video game to movie adaptation. The closest we ever came, I guess, was, uh... Resident Evil? The first Tomb Raider? I don't know. In all these years, there just has never been an adaptation that gamers could cite as a product of quality to silence the naysayers. And all we ever got were "loose" adaptations, anyway. So although we might still be secretly praying for that day when they successfully adapt BioShock or transform Half-Life into a movie that can work its way up the IMDb Top 250, we can only look back at the horrific graveyard of truly bad video game adaptations to see what probably awaits us. Granted, there's no reason why a good video game adaptation shouldn't get made, but deep down I think we've all comes to terms with the fact that they don't work: as a result, we're pretty indifferent about them now, Hollywood, so don't even bother.
