20 Upcoming Film & TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

These films and TV shows just got the axe.

Hollywood is in quite the precarious state right now, with studios still scrambling to find out what success means in the post-pandemic streaming era across both film and TV.

Companies are clinging hard to their biggest hits all while hastily cancelling movies and TV series which they evidently don't have a whole lot of faith in.

The industry has never felt quite so twitchy and impatient to nix an idea, honestly, and while some cancellations can be seen coming a mile off due to thunderous audience disinterest, others are ultimately far more surprising.

So no matter which camp they fall into, these 20 movies and TV shows were all recently given the chop for one reason or another.

Perhaps it's a planned movie sequel which was scrapped due to the previous film's dire box office, or a long-gestating TV series that just couldn't find a way to crawl out of development hell.

Either way, the outcome is the same - these projects have all been cancelled, and while some might well resurface in other forms years from now, others are clearly done for good...

20. Indiana Jones Reboot

The moment that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was confirmed to be Harrison Ford's final outing as the iconic adventurer, many began questioning the franchise's future.

And last year, word began doing the rounds that Disney was planning an Indiana Jones reboot after letting the series have a brief rest, with some theorising the reboot announcement could come as soon as Disney's D23 Expo this August.

However, this was recently contradicted by producer Kathleen Kennedy, who in an interview after announcing her departure from Lucasfilm, flatly confirmed that Disney wasn't actively pursing a reboot in any form right now. She said:

"I don't think Indy will ever be done, but I don't think anybody is interested right now in exploring it."

While an Indy reboot will almost certainly materialise eventually, it appears that Disney gave an immediate reboot a second thought - perhaps after mulling over The Dial of Destiny's shambolic box office performance.

Indy will return at some point, but right now he's looking at an extended stay in the museum.
