10 Completely Overrated Movies

8. Bridesmaids (2011)

I€™m kind of a feminist. I am definitely for equal pay and am currently chipping away at my own little corner of the glass ceiling. When Bridesmaids was released, every review and every interview with the film€™s stars kept repeating something to this effect: The film is a female version of The Hangover, and it proves that women can be just as dirty as men.

Well, the first problem is that The Hangover wasn€™t funny. Don€™t use an unfunny film to recommend another unfunny film. Secondly, I don€™t think Betty Friedan was picturing Melissa McCarthy using a sink as a toilet when she penned The Feminine Mystique. Don€™t try to make a film more than it is. It wasn€™t a treatise on female comedy. It wasn€™t saying something terribly unique about female friendships. It was just a bunch of women sitting around telling the same old sex jokes, defining themselves by their relationships to men, and dancing around to Wilson Philips€™ songs.

And, can we all agree that Kristen Wiig is trying way too hard?
