1989's Batman launched a franchise that was not without controversy, especially from the later films Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Batman and Batman Returns even had some questionable moments that included a few henchman's deaths at the hands of Batman, clearly breaking his main rule. Don't believe me? In Batman Returns, he cleverly disposes of a bomb by attaching it to a member of the Red Triangle Circus Gang, who he then pushes into a subway entrance to blow up off-screen. Surprisingly enough, that isn't the most controversial moment, especially when looking back at the films now. What stands out over everything else is Alfred's clear violation of one of Bruce Wayne's most important rules ever. Alfred reveals the secret identity of Batman by letting reporter Vicki Vale (played by Kim Basinger) into the Batcave to see Bruce working. Sure, she had her assumptions about Bruce, but for Alfred to just flagrantly escort her into the Batcave is ridiculous. For a man who has at times worn the batsuit himself to throw suspicion off of Master Wayne, this is an unforgivable act by Alfred that had fans shaking their heads in shock.
