10 Convoluted Movies That Ruined Great Ideas

6. The Matrix Reloaded

The Matrix Reloaded is a blast for the vast majority of its runtime, even if the overarching feeling is that it is a totally needless sequel to a superb pop culture milestone. Still, things get dicey once Neo finally - after a protracted series of doors and battles - reaches the Architect, the father of The Matrix, and the man Neo is here to confront. In a mess of pretentious, pompous exposition, the nature of The Matrix and Neo's part in it - that he, like all of the Ones who came before him, must choose between Trinity and the rest of The Matrix - is revealed, a hugely unsatisfactory dialogue, that like many entries on this list, is needlessly trumped-up without actually proving gratifying. After so many awesome action scenes, Reloaded ground to a halt with these revelations, while opening a whole new can of worms by suggesting that Agent Smith had managed to smuggle himself aboard by way of Bane's body.
