For many, the comedy in Dumb And Dumber To rather tragically ended at the title. This was a sequel released 20 years after the original, made by a directing duo that hadn't been relevant for over a decade, starring one actor who probably needed a hit (Jim Carrey) and another who could've done with reintroduction to the mainstream after years of smaller projects (Jeff Daniels). Neither got their wish, obviously, as the film tanked and got roundly battered by critics who never had that much hope for it in the first place. The film didn't even get the 18-25 audience appeal it so badly could've used at the box office, as the originally cameoing star Jennifer Lawrence - a purported fan of the original film - was cut out of the movie just before it was released. It's still uncertain what exactly happened there, but the rumour persists that Lawrence exercised her right to request removal from the film if she wasn't happy with it. Directing team the Farrelly brothers denied this, but then they're not going to admit one of the nicest women in Hollywood thought their film was so terrible she asked to be edited out. Which other great actors were cut out of crap films? Let us know in the comments below.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
