On the surface, this fan theory seems to rest on two rather tenuous bases, namely that Mary Poppins is also some sort of magical being and she happens to be English too. But do a little digging and there are a few more titbits that suggest Mary Poppins might very well be from the same universe as the boy wizard and friends.

The theory goes that Poppins graduated from Hogwarts long before Harry and re-entered the muggle world, but wasn’t content with giving up her magical abilities so used them in her day-to-day job as a nanny.

Those levitation and flying skills are clearly a product of her Hogwarts education and the fact she doesn’t seem to have a visible wand isn’t too troubling because she did have a magical umbrella just like Hagrid did. Not to mention she has a magical bag from which she’s able to pull impossibly large items like hat stands, house plants and floor lamps – not too dissimilar from the magic handbag Hermione toted around in the Deathly Hallows.
