10 Craziest Things That Have Been Made Into Movies

2. A Toy All About Your Own Imagination - The LEGO Movie

Films based on toys don't have the best reputation, mainly because they tend to be little more than feature-length advertisements. And when they're not they're barely suitable for their target audience; Michael Bay's Transformers series contains so much lewd cinematography and bawdy humour it's hardly suitable for six year old who actually plays with the toys. Although at least in that case there was pre-existing story (the eighties cartoon ran for three and a bit seasons); when it was announced there was going to be a film based on Danish LEGO blocks everyone was skeptical. We needn't have worried. LEGO, who have gone through a reinvention of late thanks to a run of mega-successful video games, hired Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to bring their movie to life and the resulting product is what you'd expect from the guys who made both 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Getting to the heart of what makes the toy so successful (imagination), The LEGO Movie almost feels like a fan film, subverting the corporate expectations rather than adhering to them. The movies release did however come along with seventeen building sets that allowed people to recreate their favourite moments from the film. Which kinda goes against the whole point of the movie.
