Tusken Raiders have typically been painted as a sinister and brutal group of beings, who occupy the baron desserts of Tatooine. They were feared and shunned due to their frequent raids on moisture farms. But like many native people, they were an oppressed species, who were driven to desperation due to the many off-worlders colonising their planet.

Life as a Tusken seemed pretty bleak. The nomads were ostracised by settlers, hated, persecuted, and even hunted at times. Living in the harsh landscape of Tatooine's deep deserts can't have been an easy life, especially with the added risk of a vengeful Jedi popping up to slaughter your entire village.

Even for children things were tough, demonstrated by the right of passage every young Tusken male had to go through. At the age of 15 Tuskens were considered adults, and to mark the transition into manhood, every boy was tasked with tracking down and killing a krayt dragon, in order to obtain the precious pearls found in their guts.

No easy task, if the Mandalorian is anything to go by...
