Following the introduction of the Multiverse in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios plans to explore alternate realities in the What If? animated series. The Flash can open the door to similar stories, of course, and this take on the Justice League might just be the fresh start that team needs.

So, what if the Justice League existed in the late 1800s and early 1900s? It goes without saying that would be a far cry from the 2017 movie, and with original takes on heroes like Green Lantern, the Flash, Starman, Plastic Man, Superman, and the Atom, there's a tonne of potential here.

After Superman makes himself known to the world at the 1876 Centennial Exposition, he starts working with the greatest minds of the time, including Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla... and Lex Luthor.

Decades later, mankind starts weaponising some of those inventions, and it's down to Superman and his "League of Science" to stop World War I from breaking out. A fun premise, and one that can shine a light on these heroes in the Multiverse in some unexpected ways.
