10 Creepy Similarities Between Nolan And Burton’s Batman Movies

2. Hit Me!

Narratively you€™d be forgiven for thinking The Dark Knight was ending earlier than expected. After the truck flip that acted as the money shot of the trailers and TV spots occurred, it looked like we were speeding towards conclusion. And, fittingly, Batman was speeding towards the Joker, faster and faster as the clown stood anticipating collision in the middle of the road. And... of course he wasn't going to hit him; one rule and all that. If you wanted a clue as to what would happen, you only need to look at Batman, which is shaping up to be a very dependable guide when dealing with the Joker. At that film€™s climax we get a similar scene where Batman flies towards the Joker, once again unable to off him. But that€™s just coincidence (or at best slight homage). What€™s interesting here is how the Joker acts. Sending crowds/traffic running, they both implore Batman to hit them (with or without expletives depending on your version). The similarities between the two characters is hardly explored in Batman, which makes the challenge here particularly interesting. It€™s not a case of copying, but rather something intrinsically in certain versions of the Joker€™s character. Quite why it's so specific is something I'll look at next.
