10 Cringiest Moments In The Star Wars Prequels

6. "Are You An Angel?"

Anakin and Padmé's first meeting marks the true beginning of the Skywalker Saga, with the couple's romance not only setting Anakin on the path to becoming Darth Vader, but bringing Luke and Leia into the world to boot.

Things get off to a cringey start however, with their first-ever conversation kicking off with young Anakin's highly embarrassing pickup line "Are you an angel?"

Poor Jake Lloyd is trying his best here but he just doesn't sound natural, and, to be fair, a large chunk of the blame has to fall at Lucas' feet for writing such groan-worthy guff in the first place.

It's by no means Anakin and Padmé's worst interaction in the prequels (we'll get to that later), but it's a bad moment nonetheless.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
