10 Dark Facts About Star Wars That Are Never Spoken About

8. Zombie Stormtroopers

Whilst we're mainly going to be talking about main series entries on this list, we thought we'd take this opportunity to touch on a couple of the darker bits from the expanded Star Wars universe as well.

More specifically, the 2009 book Death Troopers, written by Joe Schreiber.

At the start of the story, the Imperial prison ship Purge comes across the seemingly abandoned wreckage of a Star Destroyer. After a scouting trip aboard, they find out where everyone has gone - they've all been turned into zombies by an artificially created virus!

Good!

The Blackwing Virus was in its testing phase when it escaped captivity and overran the ship. Now, the crew of the Purge - and Han Solo and Chewbacca who are just chilling there - must escape it and the legions of undead it has created.

There are already plenty of scary things in Star Wars.

Giant man-eating pits in the desert, horrifying snow creatures, Jar Jar Binks' accent. The last thing the series needed was a zombie-style virus running amok.

What's that? The virus was made canon as part of the Star Wars Commander mobile game?

Well that's just great.
