10 Dark Harry Potter Scenes That Were Excluded From The Films
4. Tom Riddle Murders His Family
It is hinted at but never said out loud in the films that Tom Riddle killed his family. However, the books confirm that, yes, that is exactly what Tom did.
In the Half-Blood Prince, Harry is learning everything there is to know about Tom Riddle’s past in order to find out how he will be able to stop him once and for all.
During a walk through Riddle’s memories, Harry learns that Tom’s mother comes from the Gaunt family, a pure-blood family that has always valued their Slytherin lineage. In a twist, Tom Riddle Sr. is a Muggle who has been enchanted by a love potion and tricked into marrying Merope Gaunt.
Once Tom learns his father is a Muggle, he decided that his family isn’t worthy of him and goes on a killing spree, murdering his dad and grandparents, and pinning the murders on his Uncle Morfin.
There was a lot to pack into the Half-Blood Prince film, but we can’t help but feel this scene was intentionally left out due to its dark and brutal nature.
